What Is The ‘New Year’ To Nature?

21HAs 2014 comes to a close and we move into a new year, this marks an important moment in our lives. It comes with a sense of new beginnings, or of a clean slate, or a time to get ourselves together in order to accomplish a goal.

Yet 92% of New Year’s resolutions will be tossed out the window within the first 30 days of 2015.

Nature doesn’t celebrate the ‘new year.’ The calendar year is a man-made concept devised to help us keep track of time; Nature, doesn’t need to keep track of time.

One of the greatest gifts Nature shared with me this year is that it is Spirit, meaning that Nature lives in alignment with its own divine plan. It isn’t trying to be something it’s not, or to achieve something great, Nature simply is, which is where we get off track.

Because of our minds and our egos and even our emotions; we are tugged this way and that, believing that we are supposed to be doing something or getting somewhere.

Our mind, ego and emotions are all so important, but they don’t and shouldn’t be what rule our existence. It is your Spirit that holds your purpose and the overall game plan. It is your Spirit that, if allowed to lead, will craft your life in a graceful, easy, flowing manner.

I’m reminded of Oscar, the Orange Tabby who has adopted us. He has an uncanny patience and persistence. He is happy with what he has yet he is persistently working to get us to accept him more and more into our lives. He’s fine without us, but knows what he wants. Patience and persistence, a unique combination where humans are concerned.

Yet for Nature, it is commonplace. Nature is perfectly happy where it is.

So as we celebrate the New Year, Nature won’t be making New Year’s Resolutions, because Nature is right where Nature is. It may grow and change; it may transform and evolve; but today, Nature is happy being Nature.

When we stop and think about it, it’s a much more gentle way of experiencing our lives. Happy to be you, while open to changing and growing.

So maybe our collective resolution this year could be ‘happy to be, happy to grow,’ and let Nature take its course.

Wishing you a beautiful continuation of your being, and blessings as you grow!
