Nature’s Sanctuary Sunday Service for June 26, 2016: The Healing Power of Nature
The Healing Power of Nature (listen to the full Sunday Service below)
You may have heard about Nature’s ability to renew, rejuvenate and revitalize us. It’s the latest ‘fad’ to hear of doctors ‘prescribing’ nature as a cure for stress and anxiety.
You may have also heard of, or more likely seen on Facebook the Japanese term Shinrin-yoku. It means “taking in the forest atmosphere” or “forest bathing.” It became popular in Japan during the 1980s and is consider in Japanese medicine an essential part of not only healing, but staying healthy.
These are some of the benefits of Shinrin-yoku and you may recognize them
- Reduced blood pressure
- Reduced stress
- Improved mood
- Increased ability to focus, even in children with ADHD
- Accelerated recovery from surgery or illness
- Increased energy level
- Improved sleep
And many also experience
- Deeper and clearer intuition
- Increased flow of energy
- Increased capacity to communicate with the land and its species
- Increased flow of eros/life force
- Deepening of friendships
- Overall increase in sense of happiness

And what about taking a shower? Have you ever experienced your best thoughts coming to you? Or have you found passages of a new book or a report flow? Have you had inspiration for a new project, program or creation?
As a clairvoyant and an energy worker, I want to understand ‘why?’ Why does nature help us heal, why does nature open our creative channels? I tell the Students at The Church of Nature all the time, it isn’t enough to just observe something, we must dig beneath the surface and understand why, how, in what way and what for, because when we do, we shift and deepen our own consciousness.
We begin to truly see that we and everything are all connected. When we understand the how and why and what for, we can then apply that information in unique and empowering ways. When we understand and see it, we change and deepen our connection to everything around us. When we understand and see it, we take responsibility for our own existence. No longer are thing being done to us, or happening around us; rather we understand how, why and what for and more importantly can choose to do things differently.
In the case of the healing power of nature, there is much to be gained by understanding how and in what way Nature supports our healing, because when we understand it, we can access this healing anywhere, any time, regardless of where we are.
The elements in Nature are energy; earth, water, air, fire, these are all energy, all vibration and if they are energy or vibrations then we can consciously choose to match or attune to these vibrations.
At The Church of Nature we actively practice shifting our own vibrations. This notion came to me many years ago as I energetically explored group dynamics. It had been stated during a corporate workshop I was in that a group was only as strong as its least effective member. As everyone sat and nodded their heads (there was something true we could all connect with in the statement) I wanted to know ‘why?’
So I did what I do every time I want to know ‘why?’ After the workshop, I went into my meditation space and used my clairvoyance to look at group dynamics energetically. I looked at what happened when individuals join a group. I moved the group through different moments in time looking at a group when it functioned well and when it didn’t function well.
What I saw was that when a group didn’t function well, the energetic vibration of each person in the group lowered to match the lowest vibration within the group. Now when we talk about vibrations with regard to people, we are talking about things like motivation, satisfaction, joy, love. On the lower end of the scale these would be stagnation, dissatisfaction, anger and resentment. In the business world, this idea of a group lowering to the lowest vibration has a huge impact on moral and productivity.
But as I gathered this information I found myself thinking of how this could be used in our lives in general. It not only happens in the work setting but in families and intimate relationships and friendships. We can unconsciously allow ourselves to be raised up or brought down. The goal of course in our lives is to always be conscious and choose for ourselves.
So with this knowledge in hand, the ability of Nature to renew, rejuvenate, revitalize and inspire us has long since made sense to me. Nature has one of the highest vibrations of energy on the planet – pure earth, water, air, and fire; the trees, the mountains, the ocean, a lake, the sun – each have a powerful vibration that offers us countless ways to self-heal.
What I teach, however, is to be conscious. If we allow someone or something else to ‘heal’ us; we are not living up to our true potential as Spirit with a body. Our bodies, our vibrations are our individual responsibilities. When we walk through the world with consciousness we own that responsibility. We choose at what level we vibrate. Higher vibrations mean better health, more peace, more abundance, more love, more openness.
If we understand that we unconsciously can lower or raise our vibration to match someone or something, then we can take the next step and begin to consciously choose our own vibration at any point in time. And here’s the real beauty in this knowledge, you not only can choose what level you energetically vibrate at; you can also change your vibration regardless of where you are.
Once we understand that we have the ability to match, or attune as we say at the Church of Nature, to energy; it is as simple as intending to attune with water, or air, or the sun or the mountains.
We play with this all the time in our Church of Nature workshops – what does it feel like when we attune to the mountains, or to dirt, or a lake, or a crystal blue ocean or the sky?
Nature is here as an example for us; it shows us how to live as Spirit, how to flow, how to open and expand, how to receive and give; every vibration in nature is there for us to attune to, and with a conscious awareness you can begin to choose how and in what way you show up in your own life.
Weekly Ripple Opportunity:
Be conscious of your own vibration this week. Don’t just let it unconsciously lower to the lowest common denominator, choose where your vibration is set. Spend sometime with Nature and play with the different vibrations in Nature. See what attuning with air, or the mountains or dirt does for you and then choose!
